Slamdance Horror Top 5

The Top 5 Finalists for the Slamdance Horror Competition are:

Blood-Sucking Leeches and Flesh-Eating Maggots by Adam Balsam
Hunger by Latrisse Goffigan
The Shop Teacher by Joel Watson
Slaughter by Bobby Darby & Nathan Brookes
Torn Apart by Shaun O'Sullivan

Congratulations to all the finalists!

Especially to Shaun O'Sullivan and Bobby Darby, who've dropped by here and said hello. Now I have some names to root for.

Red Wedding did not make the finals. We'll see if my semifinalist status can help me get the film made.

I'm also hoping to see the rest of this year's Slamdance group get their films on the big screen.

Good luck to everyone!

Shaun O'Sullivan here again, writer of "Torn Apart". I felt very honored to just be included in the top 20, especially after a conversation with John Stoddard convinced me I was in very good company indeed.

I'm sure the decision to narrow down the 5 finalists was really tough and had less to do with quality and more to do with the practicality of filmaking with low-budgetary constraints.

So to now be included in the top 5 just feels like an incredible bonus.

By the way, many thanks to you, David, for giving us a forum to communicate and share our thoughts.

And I was being rather humble earlier when I didn't mention my movie "Truth About Kerry"... but David has given me a nudge to self-promote. so here goes!

Please all of you check out my website www.TruthAboutKerry.com

The movie is also up on the IMDB.

Logline: A young american woman travels to Ireland to investigate the mysterious events surrounding the unexplained death of her best friend.

I was co-creator of the story and the sole producer of the movie. And although I am an experinced filmmaker and producer, I think I lost 20 years of my life putting the movie together (shot on location in a very remote coastal village in the southwest corner of Ireland). Making a movie can be one of the hardest and most stressful things you can ever do, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Filmaking is my love, my life and my passion!

Truth About Kerry is now in the final stages of Post-production and a trailer is now available. If any of you would like to check out a DVD of the trailer, then please let me know and I'll happily send one on to you.

Email me at Shaun@truthaboutkerry.com

And I just want to say an extra special congratulations to my fellow Englanders Bobby Darby and Nathan Brooks for creating "Slaughter". I have a very strong feeling about the success of that one....

And of course big props to the other finalists and semi-finalists too. Fingers crossed that we will all benefit hugely from the competition. My most powerful thoughts are focused on all of us!
